The decisions we make are almost always based on our own values and ethical beliefs. Doing something in our behavior or actions that goes against our ethical values can cause distress, worry, and a discomfort that can affect our health negatively. This course will demonstrate the many aspects of ethics as well as how our overall well-being can be affected through our choices.
Goals & Objectives:
- The student will gain an understanding of what ethics is, what it means to different people, and how choices are made;
- The student will be able to identify numerous reasons for making ethical or non-ethical choices;
- The student will gain an understanding of cognitive dissonance and the effect of making an unethical choice on one’s mental, emotional and physical health;
- The student will gain an understanding of how the mis-alignment of actions and core values can create anxiety and stress.
