This online video-based course teaches techniques you can use to save the life of a person who is temporarily experiencing thoughts of suicide. Learning preventative tips - what to watch for when someone may be struggling with life, and learn intervention tips - what to do when you know someone is thinking about suicide. Postvention is primarily for those left behind after someone has died by suicide; these techniques are especially helpful for scene responders, as a way to help the family & friends on scene.
This course provides 2 hours of training credit upon completion of the course. A certificate may be requested for submission of training credit to your employer or commissioning agency.
Goals & Objectives:
- The student will be able to identify signs of suicidal ideation in another person;
- The student will learn the steps to intervening in a suicide plan or attempt;
- The student will gain an understanding of the effect of thorough and non-judgmental listening;
- The student will learn skill to transfer knowledge about suicide to prevention for those left behind.
This enrollment provides access to the class for thirty days.
