This full training course is designed to provide the basic essentials needed to begin an entry-level administrative assistant position, but also adds in helpful lessons on becoming an exceptional employee as well. The lesson content prepares you for the Certified Administrative Assistant certification examination.
GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
1. The student will be able to identify what is expected of an Administrative Assistant and what career opportunities are available;
2. The student will be able to list the essential skills necessary to work in an administrative assistant role, including software programs and office equipment frequently used;
3. The student will gain an understanding of standard office machines and mailing & shipping services used;
4. The student will gain an understanding of proper telephone skills and etiquette when representing the employer as an administrative assistant;
5. The student will be able to arrange travel and meetings for a supervisor, and will gain an understanding of the best methods for communicating details;
6. The student will be able to identify the importance of, and methods for, managing time, records, and calendars;
7. The student will be able to demonstrate proper filing and alphabetizing methods;
8. The student will be able to perform basic bookkeeping skills and have an understanding of more detailed skills that may need to be acquired through additional training;
9. The student will gain an understanding of the importance of having good people skills, communicating clearly, and acting in a professional, service-oriented manner;
10. The student will gain basic skills used in sending & receiving email, including proper methods for written & mailed communications;
11. The student will be able to identify proper dress code and behavior for the workplace, as well as when interviewing;
12. The student will be able to differentiate between simply performing the duties of a job, and being exceptional in the role.
